The noticeable presence of Bulgarians at Jacobs University is not something which is happening just now. The relatively large Bulgarian diaspore at IUB/Jacobs has its traditions and its roots can be traced back to the very first days of our university. An event, which speaks about this fact, is the First Bulgarian CID that took place on September 25th, 2003, thus being the second CID to be hosted in Mercator. On the pictures from it one can see that even then the Bulgarians were a big group; but the event was not only about numbers - songs, dances and traditional Bulgarian food formed the backbone of this CID.
