It was Bangladesh’s turn on Thursday, April 1st, 2004 in the Mercator College Country Information Day series to present land, culture and people to the IUB community. The comparatively few Bangladeshi students did a fantastic job in spite of other academic commitments, in giving a very informative and entertaining insight into diverse socio-cultural and geo-political aspects of Bangladesh. Information in all their complexities relating to their historical and current relevance and also background information and their implications for modern day Bangladesh were very creatively presented in form of a TV-news, cultural aspects acted out in mini-plays and we even had the social experience of learning to play Ha-du-du first hand. College master Klaus Boehnke turned out to be the toughest opponent of the Bangladeshi team who of course had the advantage of experience. Ha-du-du is a popular game in Bangladesh. Dance and a taste of Bangladeshi delicatesses concluded the evening.
