Nepal 2006

The evening of April 27th, 2006, was of historical significance for the Mercator Country Information Day series, a benchmark of its own kind. After 21 successful CIDs, the wheel has finally turned and the second round of hosting countries began. The first country to enter this round was the very same, with which all this started - Nepal. Almost 3 full years have passed since the first Nepali CID and very few people of those who have seen the first one were still around campus; so the Mercator Common Room was packed as always with a crowd eager to learn more about a distant part of the world. The Nepali students at then-still-IUB were supported in their performance by a few international participants - among them Prof. Mark Comerford himself - and with this invaluable help staged another performance to remember. Songs, dances, educative presentations, live music - everything that makes for a good CID was presented and after an hour and half the audience left for the tables covered with traditional Nepali food with the feeling of another night well spent.
