Lantern Making 2010 - overview

lantern_2010_1Relating to Saint Martin's day B-a-link organised a lantern making event in the evening of November 10th in collaboration with the Mercator College Office. It is traditional in many parts of Germany for children to make lanterns and participate in lantern processions on Saint Martin's day (11th November). As the legend goes Saint Martin cut his cloak in half to share it with a beggar during a snowstorm.

With colourful cardboard, transparent paper and our creative minds we came up with our very own lanterns. The more traditional designs used stars, moons and houses, while more daring artists included the Mercator College logo and tropical flowers in their designs. The artistic process was boosted by waffles prepared by the Mercator College Office Team (thank you again! :) ). Over all the lanterns and waffles we escaped our daily routine for the evening. After a relaxing evening we left the College Office happy and content.
