olympiOlympics come, Olympics go, we don't win that much, BUT WE SURE HAVE FUN :D

This year wasn't as fruitful as it could have been for our awesome Meerkats. We had quite a few near misses in terms of qualifying to some semi-finals but Lady Luck simply wasn't on our side. Although we didn't win much, we saw many signs of improvement and some praises, especially on account of the cheer leading team, where people were impressed by our performance - phrases like: "You guys were really great this year" and "We really aren't used to Mercator doing stunts, so were pretty amazed when we saw you guys" could be heard from our fellow brethren from other colleges
courtneyWe might also say that we were a bit cursed from the start - having our mascot  being returned to sender due to a damaged package just before Olympics, rendering our college basically mascot-less. Also, we were hoping to scare the colleges off with Haka, which wasn't as successful as we'd wanted, but it was extremely fun to learn and practice: TE WHANAU O MERCATOR!

Nevertheless, the Mercator spirit was significantly better than in the previous year, having a consistent participation in all the sports and a considerable louder crowd than all the other colleges - at times combined :D

Check out all the photos here, in our gallery :)

Peace and be BLUE!!
