Personal Statement

Dear Fellow Mercatorians,

First of all let me thank you whole heartedly for voting for me and for trusting me with the responsibility of member of parliament. I am proud to have the opportunity to represent Mercator College in the student government. As most of you might already know I am a freshman majoring in Bio Informatics and Computational Biology. I believe that there are a lot of things at Jacobs University that can and should be changed. I have taken it upon myself, to bring up these issues with the administration, along with my able fellow Mercatorian MPs Florian and Jonas, and of courses the other members of the student government. One of the biggest things that I think need to be changed is the level of the transparency, the main thing I realized when I got here was how disconnected the students are with what really goes on with the admin. I heard rumors of Jacobs University closing down and other such fictitious stuff and there was never any real clarification from the administration. I found this to be highly absurd. I have thus decided that I shall push for the level of transparency to be increased and for the level of communication between the students and the admin to be raised. I have also realized that there are a lot of things around campus that could be improved, in terms of infrastructure and facilities. For example better printers in the colleges and many more such improved facilities that would make life easier for all of us. I have therefore, taken on the position of Co-Chair of the Internal Affairs Committee, which is responsible for addressing these issues. I will also be co-chairing the Room Allocation Committee. On the top of my agenda however, is what you guys want. I had said this before and I reiterate it, I am an MP so that I can make sure that the students of Jacobs University and Mercator in particular get their problems heard and to help them with anything they need. I would therefore request you to please come to me with whatever problem you may have. Come and speak to me if you see me or send me a mail or call, whatever works for you. Just be aware that if you have a problem then you can come to me at any time and I will try my best to get it solved, along with Florian and Jonas. With that I end my little introduction.
