Dear Mercator Community,

My name is Hannah Schwarz, I am a second year IRB student from Germany and this academic year, I am representing our college in the Undergraduate Student Government. I want to thank you for giving me this opportunity.

I really think we have to appreciate and make use of the influence that students can have, here at Jacobs. Given this opportunity we have the great chance to actively shape life and academics at our university. But, of course, this also requires involvement and responsibility from the student side. I hope that every now and then you will find the time to think about how living and studying at Jacobs could be improved and that you will express your ideas and thoughts. I will be happy about any input from your side and, of course, also always open to any questions or concerns.

You can approach me via email, call me or just drop by. My ‘office hour’ is on Wednesdays from 11h to 12h, so then I will always be in my room. But please also feel free to spontaneously approach me at others times or make an appointment, if you like.

This year I am co-chairing the Environmental Affairs Committee that was established last year. We will keep working on issues such as renewable energies, waste reduction/recycling and raising student’s awareness about how to reduce individual energy usage.
