| Prof. Werner Bergholz |
|
my name is Werner Bergholz and I am proud of being one of the first honorary members of Mercator . I have been Professor of Electrical Engineering at Jacobs University since Sept. 2002, after almost 2 decades in the Microelectronics industry. I grew up in a small village near Hamburg and studied Physics at the University of Göttingen (D). After several postdoc assignments in Göttingen, Aarhus (DK) and Oxford (UK) I joined the Siemens Semiconductor Division (which in 1999 became Infineon Technologies), where I worked in R&D, Production, Supplier Management and Quality Management. My personal research foci are Microelectronics Reliability Engineering (including the next generation 450mm wafer), Quality / Process Management and Standardization in Microelectronics and Nanotechnology. My hobbies are Ball Room dancing, sailing, Travelling and exploring nature (see Photo in the Canadian Rockies), astronomy ( I own a 10 inch Dobson Telescope), Skiing, Photography,… as I try to bring over in my lectures: It is important to have a good work life balance. Naturally, I have asked myself: How can I contribute to the development of Mercator College? Here is my answer: To contribute to the continuous improvement of Mercator College, ultimate goal to make Mercator a learning organization. To be available for every Mercatorian to give personal advice in study, career and personal matters, so do not hesitate to contact me if you feel I can be of any help!
